Experience: This review concerns Team A. Interns are expected to see two patients and present them during rounds, although presentation opportunities are inconsistent. Rounds usually run from 9 to 11 AM, then one intern stays until 4 PM to complete admission notes. On Wednesdays there are no rounds, but one intern still covers admissions until 4 PM.

Advantages: There is often enough time to study while covering the ward, including days with no new admissions.

Disadvantages: It could be difficult to find someone available to complete the evaluation, so arrange it early. Team communication felt unwelcoming, and interactions with leadership were difficult.

Experience: This review concerns Team D. Interns were expected to select and follow patients without a clear distribution between residents and interns. Teaching varied by consultant: it was limited on some rounds but useful and case-based on others.

Advantages: Rounds-only days often finish around 12–1 PM. When covering admissions until 4 PM, the workload may be light enough to study, with around 0–3 admissions. Clinic-day admission coverage can also be light.

Disadvantages: Some rounds are long. On-calls can be hectic and admissions may arrive together; weekend shifts cover both wards and labour and delivery. Residents were often too busy to teach, and the working environment could sometimes feel unsupportive.

Tips: Confirm the team’s pre-call and post-call policy early, and agree on patient and admission responsibilities at the start of the rotation.

Experience: On Team A, communication was inconsistent: interns could be criticized for not presenting even when they were not given an opportunity.

Advantages: Interested interns can learn from varied operating-room and clinic cases. Rounds often finish around 10:30–11, followed by a limited number of admission histories, which may leave time to study.

Disadvantages: On-call shifts could be so busy that there was little time to rest and admissions remained outstanding.

Tips: Prepare two cases for morning rounds and tell the team early if you are interested in obstetrics and gynaecology.

التجربة: هذه التجربة في الفريق B. توجد أربعة فرق، والعمل موزع بين عيادة أسبوعية، ويوم للعمليات والراوند، وثلاثة أيام للراوند. يبدأ الراوند عادةً الساعة ٩ وينتهي قرابة ١١، لكن يلزم الحضور مبكرًا لاختيار حالة وتجهيزها للعرض. في معظم الأيام يبقى متدرب واحد حتى الساعة ٤ لتغطية حالات الدخول الجديدة.

الإيجابيات: ملاحظات الدخول تركز على التاريخ المرضي والفحص، ولا يُطلب من المتدرب كتابة الخطة أو إدخال الأوامر. حضور العيادة والعمليات مفيد لمن يريد إثبات اهتمامه والاستفادة من الحالات.

السلبيات: كانت ملاحظات الدخول تُسند أساسًا إلى المتدربين. توجد مناوبات في الولادة أو الأجنحة: مناوبتان في أيام الأسبوع من ٤ مساءً إلى ٨ صباحًا، ومناوبة في نهاية الأسبوع لمدة ١٢ ساعة. قد تكون الولادة أخف من الأجنحة، لكن عدد الحالات قد يكون مرتفعًا في المكانين.

النصائح: جهّز أكثر من حالة للعرض في الراوند إذا كنت مهتمًا، واتفق مع الفريق على حضور العمليات والمهام المطلوبة.
