Experience: The main issue was communication about the next day’s start time; sometimes the schedule was still unclear late in the evening.

Advantages: The team may allow interns to leave when the day’s work is complete. On-call attendance could sometimes be shortened or excused after discussing it with the junior resident.

Disadvantages: There was no reliable advance schedule, so interns had to ask about timing day by day.

Tips: Present during rounds, ask for the schedule early, and avoid overstepping your role.

Experience: No attendance sheet to sign, no on-calls. Most consultants were on leave and the schedule wasn’t always on-time , but mostly Sunday is for round. Monday+ Wednesday for OR. Tuesday+ Thursday for Clinic/ wards. Tasks include writing progress notes + consultations. They usually let you go after getting the job done (usually around 12).

Advantages: Good practical skills exposure if you are interested (OR/nurse clinic). Working hours depend on you, you can leave once you are done with the tasks. The environment is friendly and they are generous and cooperative.

Disadvantages: In some heavy days they might ask you to stay to 3-5 pm to do consultations. But they are understanding if u have a valid reason to leave work early. How much heavy days are we talking about here? U will never know, It may happen once, twice or never انت وحظك

التجربة: أسبوعان في العيادات الخارجية، وفيهما أربع عيادات أسبوعيًا، ثم أسبوعان في الاستشارات مع رزدنت أو فيلو وراوند مع استشاري. تتابع مريضًا وتقدمه وتكتب النوت بنفسك.

الإيجابيات: الفريق متعاون. اليوم الكامل طويل لكنه يترك بعض الوقت للدراسة. توجد جلسة تعليمية صباح الأربعاء، ولا توجد مناوبات. المكان مناسب للمهتمين بالتخصص.

السلبيات: حصل بعض الارتباك في البداية ولم يكن توزيع المتدربين واضحًا. كان التقييم صارمًا، وقد تُخصم درجات.

النصائح: من السهل أن تطلب إدارة عيادة بنفسك إذا كنت مهتمًا.

Experience: A demanding urology rotation. History and physical forms must be ready before the 7:15 round, and the day rarely finishes before 3 PM. The workload is stressful but provides strong exposure to BestCare and clinical documentation.

Advantages: Useful insight into a surgical resident’s work, with opportunities to observe or perform tasks such as urinary catheter insertion, endoscopy, cystoscopy and stent-related procedures under supervision. Some residents were welcoming and enjoyable to work with.

Disadvantages: The rotation had long hours, many on-calls and notes, unpredictable departure times, and limited teaching on some days.

Tips: Robotic operating lists, day care and operating-room attendance can be lengthy, so prioritise them when they match your learning goals and clarify expectations with the team.

Experience: It was a difficult rotation especially if you are not interested, oncalls were 6 and then they were changed to 4 oncalls, its a 24 hrs oncall system, the residents are nice and helpful but it is a tough rotation if you have an upcoming exam

Advantages: You can learn how to foley caths, irritations, flushing, stent removals and cystoscopies

Disadvantages: Long working hours from 6:30 AM to 2/3 PM with 24 hr oncalls and your post call starts 12 pm the next day

Tips: If you’re interested try to help the residents as much as you can as they need help

Experience: So in brief I was not interested in the specialty so they usually left me alone but once every 3 days they will let me have a few patients and practice my hx taking. But if you’re interested they will give you teaching sessions and you’ll have more patients

Advantages: -Practicing your history taking - lots of time to study ( even if you leave and come back nobody will notice you 🫠) - nice team everyone was helpful - If you want there’s teaching sessions

Disadvantages: - Not much to do around - you’ll see a verity of patients mostly elderly and difficult or confused and anxious - you’ll need a consultant permission to leave even if it’s 4 PM

Tips: Stay close to the consultants go with them in every clinic ask any questions you have show that you’re interested and ask them for the letter don’t wait for them to act

Experience: Since it is random basically it is like the clincal attachment that we used to have ij college 😏you know

Advantages: Max. At 12 you can leave

Disadvantages: Pooring to just stand in the OR DONING NOTHING BUT OBSERVING , however some doctor give us thaw chance to leave to study and come baco others do not

Tips: Must to attend first weeks so that consultants and doctors are familiar with you regarding your evaluation you have to ask the chief resident ealry who will take care of the evaluation is it one doctor or randome
