Experience: Very great! Loved it very much. There are 3 shifts (7am-3pm) (3pm-11pm) (11pm-7am) each shift differs in the amount of patients and you should cover them equally so 6 shifts each and you need a signature for attendance at the end of each shift
Advantages: Doctors and fellows are very nice, friendly, and ready to help. Working hours depends on the consultants/ fellows they may let you leave early or you can ask them and it depends whether they’re ok with you leaving or not. ((((You can absolutely study all day if you want, no one will ask about you or ask you to see patients)))) so it depends on what you would like to do 100%
Disadvantages: Maybe thats its 8 hours shift (if you attend them all without leaving early) but even with that you can study all 8 hours no one will notice or ask about you
Tips: Read the room, so if you’re 2 hours in your shift its a bit disrespectful to ask to leave early. If they’re busy its better not to bother them by leaving.
Experience: A positive experience with an acceptable workload.
Advantages: Consultants and fellows were friendly and helpful. Teaching was most consistent with paediatric residents; work with residents from other specialties could be more documentation-focused. Shifts often ended about an hour early, leaving time to study.
Disadvantages: The afternoon shift was the busiest; morning and night shifts were usually lighter.
Experience: Great team, cooperative, helpful
Advantages: Alot of time to study, cooperative teams
Disadvantages: Haven’t faced any الحمدلله
Tips: Introduce yourself each endorsement, familiarize yourself with Pediatrics most common conditions i.e. gastroenteritis, URTI, constipation, laryngeomalacia
Experience: Overall, a good experience with a low-to-medium workload. Consultants generally let interns choose how actively to participate. Teaching was most consistent with paediatric residents; shifts with residents from other specialties could be more documentation-focused. Depending on workload, interns may ask to leave 1–2 hours early.
Advantages: There is plenty of time to study unless the shift is unusually busy.
Disadvantages: The team changes frequently. Communication with some residents from other specialties could feel disrespectful, and their shifts could offer less teaching.
Tips: Where possible, schedule similar shifts through most of the week to reduce disruption to your sleep cycle, and ask to work with paediatric residents when teaching is your priority.
