Experience: Very engaging environment, inpatient they will assign you patients to present during the round. Clinic which is the most place you will learn from! they will let you to see patients on your own room ( history , examination, writing notes) then the consultant will come and you are going to present the case usually the consultant will repeat some questions and do the examination again, then will tell you the plan to write on the note (we can’t order medications or do referrals so there is a doctor on the clinic area only for orders which you will tell him/her the orders after each patient)
Advantages: Very respectful and nice
Disadvantages: In comparison to others it has a long working hours most of the days from 8am to 4pm, and sometimes the clinic is so busy and you would see around 6-8 patients, but they understand that you are an intern and will let you take your time.
Tips: Avoid being late
Experience: In general the specialty is based on your own willingness to work ( meaning if you wanna study or have something to be done you can not attend and do your work) however, the specialty itself is kinda simple so you would have inpatient, outpatient, and consultation those three would be distributed through the mnth so 1st week would be inpatient next week outpatient and so on. The dr are amazing they would let you do what ever you wish meaning if you wanna take patients you can do, but if you wanna observe this is also valid. There is no attendance. Butttt preferably attend to the consultant that you wanna be evaluated by since they do see you and it does make a difference in the score.
Advantages: No attendance, extremely nice drs, there is time to study, only one morning meeting on sun
Tips: If interested be there in every morning meeting, take patients, ask proper questions, have good attitude, and the attendance is cruciallllll they do see you
Experience: This rotation covers general paediatrics, Down syndrome and congenital-disease clinics. Morning clinics run from 8 to 12 and afternoon clinics from 12:30 to 3:30. Interns may initially be attached to a resident, but when no resident is available they may run a clinic of 3–6 patients as resident cover.
Advantages: Clinic work only, with no inpatient service. Cases are generally straightforward, hours are fixed, and there are useful opportunities to learn without full-day clinics.
Disadvantages: The Down syndrome clinic can be difficult to keep up with when initial instructions are limited. There are also three on-calls with general paediatrics.
Tips: Clarify your system access and expected clinic responsibilities at the start of the rotation.
Experience: A rich rotation that teaches how to approach rheumatological disease in children, communicate with families, work in a team, write notes and perform examinations. The team was helpful and gave constructive feedback.
Advantages: Consultants offered scheduled case-teaching sessions, and fellows helped interested interns participate in clinics. Working hours can vary; the usual workload may include full-day clinics, inpatient care, consultations and day-care coverage. There is a teaching meeting every Sunday.
Disadvantages: The content may feel advanced for someone seeking only a general overview.
Tips: Ask for feedback, attend teaching sessions, volunteer to follow patients or join a clinic, help the team and arrive early.
Experience: Very easy and interesting, 3 weeks are clinics and 1 week is inpatient
Advantages: Short working hours, days off since there are only 3 clinics most weeks
Experience: all the drs were very nice, very light rotation.
Advantages: 9 am - 12 pm max, you will be assigned 2 patients to present in the round. a lot of time to study.
Tips: let them know you're not interested early on
Experience: A light rotation with either a morning clinic from 8:00 to 11:30 or an afternoon clinic from 12:30 to 4:00. Interns initially work with a consultant or resident, then may run their own clinic and see around 2–6 straightforward follow-up cases. The weekly Down syndrome clinic can be difficult at first but becomes easier with familiarity. Attendance is monitored strictly, and missing a clinic may result in a warning even when the absence is for an appointment.
Advantages: Supportive consultants, short working hours, useful learning and good exposure to the BestCare system.
Disadvantages: You may need to wait 30 minutes after a patient’s appointment time even when the patient does not attend. The Down syndrome clinic can be demanding.
Tips: Learn useful BestCare shortcuts and ask for follow-up and discharge forms to be available in F&I. Morning clinics are usually lighter; afternoon clinics may run until 4 PM and finish during rush hour.
