Experience: On Team B, workload may become heavier when consultant coverage is reduced. The team was respectful and fellows and residents led teaching sessions.
Advantages: Exposure to rare and complex congenital cases, with opportunities for teaching and research. On lighter days, interns may attend rounds and return later to reassess an assigned patient.
Disadvantages: Work starts around 6:45–7:30 AM and may finish between 3 and 5 PM. On-call work includes weekday and weekend shifts arranged among interns. Clinic and operating-room days leave little time to study.
Tips: Present cases in the Thursday teaching round and during morning rounds, and be proactive during on-calls.
